Marathon was the best of its time - however, the times have changed, and
: superior games exist. Though I still play and enjoy Marathon and
: scenarios, most of my game time these days is consumed my games of
: different qualities.
: There are other games as good and better than Marathon, and others worse, and
: many simply different. The same is true of games before, and during 'thons
: time.
I've many many times while playing newer 'better' games, thought whether or not I should give up my love of Marathon, and turn it into a memory; but I always come back to...er...NO. None of the post-marathon games beats it. Although I have to admit there is one game that is currently in competition with Marathon. Perfect Dark for N64 is great. It has a crappy storyline (deep though) but the gameplay is awesome. The greatest flaw is it's platform, only allowing 4 players at a time, in the corner of a TV screen, but still, the best/second-best game in the world.
