In Response To: Re: Political Structures in Marathon (Tru7h)

: ya, a message is easy, Durandal is a Human that can act and think thousands
: of times faster. conversation still needs your attention.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'm foolish enough to think that its actually easier to at least try to talk to two people at once instead of composing two written messages at once.

: no it isint, YOU agreed to go with Durandal and do what he wants YOU dont
: mind these stasisnapping YOU still follow Durandal anyway. Its called
: loyalty

Yeah, okay, show me one example when Durandal says "Are you sure you want to do this" or "you can always change your mind". And are we not directly referred to as a slave to Durandal, just as he says he was a slave to humanity? Your notion of complete compliance on the part of the marine is complete fantasy.

: WTF?? reading in the second part i gess youre saying that i have no proof
: that Blake is second in command. ok...
: what happens when the first in command dies?
: the second in command takes over.

This is because you're still under the assumption that Durandal directly appointed Blake to be the leader. Just because he happens to be in charge a number of levels into the game does not prove that Durandal bestowed command upon him. The fact remains that we have no way of knowing WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED EXACTLY that put Blake in his command position. Hell, as a populist leader, he may have very well been voted in by the BoB's.

: seriously, i dont want to soud like a parrot but

All you seem to be saying is this:

Blake appears to be in command of the BoBs = Blake was appointed by Durandal to specially coordinate ground operations.

Whereas all I'm saying is:

Blake appears to be in command of the BoBs = Blake appears to be in command of the BoB's.

I'm not the one here trying to display my conjectures and long-shot hypotheses as solid fact.

: WTFWTF?? THEY WERE ALL ASLEEP!!!!!!!!!
: my point is not that blake was coordinating Bobs during flight but that Blake
: was leader from day 1 (probably very abruply) Day 1 being Waterloo
: waterpark

--"Durandal: Blake, im sending out a 12 man squad to *place*. Get your men at the launch room ASAP!"--

--"well ya, Durandal is the captain and Blake brigandier General, Durandal gives orders and Blake carries them out as he deems proper. Durandal is way to occupied to take care off each detail"--

The above quotes, supplied by you, seem to indicate that you did indeed perceive Blake to be awake and functioning on Boomer before Waterloo WP. So which is it? How can you post and try to make valid points when you cannot give a solid account of your position? Either support what you say with evidence or don't reply to the posts. How can I give an opposing position when you, in fact, do a better job at contradicting yourself than I ever could by stumbling over your own arguments?

: now your walking into a stereotype

You're the one calling ALL authority dictatorhip. Who's stereotyping NOW?

: just like a dictator names his people and his people so on and so forth

You have it bass ackwards. You're trying to say that power flows downward from the dictator where I am saying the "dictator" (your teachers) are given their authority from a higher level. Who does Castro answer to? Who did Mao answer to? True dictators hold no obligation of servitude to a higher level of authority. Therefore, they are free to do anything without consequence. This is simply NOT TRUE with the people you consider dictators. Your teachers cannot do anything they want whenever they want. They're accountable for their actions.

: no its because its effective and offen its because the students (in scool
: example) dosent know whats best for him, or he does but dosentcare anyway

Yeah, maybe that's why thirteen-year olds can't buy alcohol, cigarettes, porn, firearms, drive motor vehicles, vote, or join the military. If they're going to act like sheep, then you have to treat them accordingly. Look, I didn't make the system, and even if I wanted to change it I'm just too apathetic and powerless to do anything about it. You can bring your teenaged proletariat to revolution, but I ain't gonna hold my breath waiting for it.

: what about all those enlighten Dictators?

Assuming I knew what you were trying to get across in that last phrase, I probably still wouldn't see what enlightenment has to do with any of it.

There is nothing more for me to say or contribute to this thread.
