You have to use the search function - the main c.s.m.g index still seems to only have 623 threads going back to 1995.
: Google has now archived Usenet posts all the way back to 1981 and made them
: searchable. Up until now you could only access pasts later than 1995. A
: quick test has uncovered a large number of PID related posts from 1993 on
: comp.sys.mac.games. And a ton of Marathon related posts from 1994 and
: 1995. Alt.games.marathon posts are there too. Anyone interesting in old
: Marathon and PID fan history will find this a gold mine. It would seem the
: Story page's 7GB archive no longer has a monopoly in this area. :(
