: Did that predate the use of this in Pfh' Joueur?

I think so.

: And I'm really
: curious how the whole piloting the Jugger thing worked in Operation
: Vengeance - particularly the sequence where the player has no control.

There were a bunch of little things all put together for that:

-Removing control from the player was done with the Physics section of the PM. Set all the values to zero (all the relevant ones, that is) and the player can't turn or move.

-Moving the player was done with hidden monsters that shot him hard enough to knock him across the room. He keeps going because he has no friction or gravity, and he doesn't die because they are Energy Absorbing damage (or whatever it's called). Sometimes they would also shoot switches that set off other parts of the room, like the platforms near the end.

-The juggernaut is a monster who only hates a tiny invisible monster that is placed where he should go. So when he wakes up, he heads towards it. Sometimes you can see the tiny monster he's chasing, especially in the biggest room.

-When you control the Juggernaut, you are holding an altered Alien Weapon. The missiles are actually much more powerful than real juggie missiles, since normal ones were taking too long to kill anything. You are also taller than normal, and immune to bullets.

-You have the same health as a Juggie because when you start the level, an exploding monster that does a lot of negative damage is killed right behind you, pushing up your health.

-You can fly because you have no gravity. Yes, this means you can't stop, but the alternative was to use the vacuum liquid trick, and I didn't want to do an app patch.
