: Here's a more logical way out of this quandary. Assume that, up until the
: deployment of the trih xeem and the release of the W'rkncacnter, there was
: only one, orderly universe. Until the moment that the W'rkncacnter
: introduced chaos into ordered space, all events were logical and the
: continuance of the timeline outlined in the ending screen of M2 was quite
: plausable. The moment that the W'rkncacnter was released, however, the
: space time continuum was fractured and the timeline outlined in the M2
: ending screen was, in a sense, recanted. Durandal has just told you to
: leave and he is on his way to do some exploration when, somehow
: mysteriously, you are transported to an ancient Jjaro station orbiting
: Lh'owon. The W'rkncacnter has emerged from its gravity prison and all that
: exists is you, the station, Durandal, who is apparently dying, Thoth, and
: Tycho's ship. But Tycho's ship seems to already be in another universe. I
: believe that at this moment, space and time have been fractured, and that
: none of these shares the same universe or point in time. In fact, perhaps
: we are split into multiple realities as well and are no longer a single
: cybernetic being, but multiple beings in different timelines. It is only
: when we discover the correct strategy to contain the W'rkncacnter that all
: timelines merge into a single reality at the end.
If this is the case, then there were multiple timelines when the universe was created, as there were W'rkncacnters throughout the universe.
Wait, just because the W'rkncacneter had been released didn't mean that it didn't exist before (it was just inside the star.) Therefore, I don't see how it could cause multiple timelines. Instead, it just allowed us to see into already existing ones.
: So what becomes of the ending portrayed in the final screen in M2? Obviously,
: a number of 3rd party scenario makers believe that it is still true and
: that life goes on as if Moo never happened. This is obviously the approach
: taken in Rubicon, for example. Others seem to assume that other realities
: still existed as, for example, in Pfh' Joueur. As much as we might like to
: believe these stories, I think that the release of the W'rkncacnter
: forever changed things and that, although only a single reality persists
: at the end of Moo, it is not the same one described at the end of M2.
: Durandal is now a merged entity with Thoth. The marine is now some sort of
: super being - not IMO a God in the sense that Mark Levin has proposed, but
: certainly more than a cybernetically enhanced human - and the only entity
: in the universe to apparently be aware of the W'rkncacnter and the
: multiple universes that resulted.
Personally, I think events continue throughout the universe as depicted at the M2 endscreen. But that's just my opinion.
