In Response To: Re: Penny Arcade's thoughts on Halo (Rincewind MoG) : If it weren't for Lain, I'd have nothing to live for anymore! Not to gripe or point fingers or anything, but I think people are giving up on Halo just a wee bit early. True, it doesn't have the volumes of material that could be found in Marathon's many terminals. But that does not instantly rule out depth. And keep in mind that Marathon had three titles, plus PiD, plus the LNP to develop a story and background. I'm not going to do something rash and say "Halo's story is on par with Marathon 1's", because that would likely see me dipped in tar, feathered, SPNK'd and sent running into hard vacuum. But I do think Halo performed admirably for a lone title which didn't have the luxury of text terminals (something I'd like to see in any hypothetical sequels). It's been a scant two weeks since Halo was released. Rome wasn't built in a day, nor was Marathon's Story written in two weeks (unless you mean two Bungie "waiting for boxes" weeks, but I'm sure Hamish would still tell you otherwise). Well, that's my bit o' evangelizing for the day. ;) Cheers,
