![]() | In Response To: Re: role play (William Spencer) Huzzah, someone familiar with the GURPS System! Visit http://marathon.stormpages.com if you haven't already, and see what I have online. My site doesn't mention GURPS Lite...I suppose adding a link to the FAQ might be a good idea, since a lot of the interested people seem to be Marathon fans new to GURPS, rather than GURPS fans new to Marathon. Sadly, the truth is that GURPS Marathon is a pretty "hardcore" sourcebook, in that you won't get maximum usage without owning $80-$100 of additional books currently published by SJ Games...I'm not sure how far you could get just on GURPS Lite. A lot of talk has been going on about the "gun shield" thing. This really isn't a rule I would use, nor is it in the book; it's just an idea for Johannes, so he can integrate it into any game he players. I'm neither defending nor condemning the use of any "gun shield" rule. (In other words, since it's not in the actual book, I'm done talking about it.) Well, see GURPS Robots for robot combat rules. Juggernauts beware the creative (and, if he's lucky, cinematically-superboosted) character. Good luck and godspeed all ye Marathon security guards! I'll be staying back at HQ... :-D I'm actually surprised by how well people are taking the game balance issue. I expected the zealous Marathon community, which is capable of spending hours trying to justify Bungie reality-slips with far-fetched Story Page posts (no insult intended to any Marathon fans; I've had my share of weird "Marathon Guns" discussion posts), to be more upset by my flagrant re-engineering of the combat balance. Yay! Sincerely, -Max Etchemendy
