In Response To: 5d (Inverted Sock Puppet) : Erm... ok, basically what is it?
It is 5 Dimensional Space. Those 5 dimensions are:
Two objects can be at the same height, width and depth coordinates at the same time, but if they are in different polygons, they won't collide. This simplified the programming efforts in Marathon a bit, since it was possible to deal with the objects in 1 polygon at a time when calculating collisions and views (rather than looking at every object on the map). As many map designers and players found out, it also made for interesting pieces of impossible architecture in the game. -- MacGuyver |
