	In Response To: Also, think about this: (Daedelus) To throw up there along with the "alternate universe" possibility, we could turn to Excession (Iain M. Banks) which we're sure Bungie have read (see the similarities between the transmissions on the old Halo page and the inter-ship transmissions throughout Excession). In Excession there's details of a way that Minds (the AIs) entertain themselves sometimes by using their immense computing power to create entire universes within themselves, detailing every variable, and just changing one or two things from our own to see how things would turn out differently (i.e., tweaking a rule of gravity .001 somethings in a particular direction, watching to see whether you end up with cube shaped planets or something... a vulgar approximation, but you see the idea). Since we can't seem to reconcile things like Durandal bringing FTL to earth with the Halo timeline, and since I find "alternate reality" to be too cliched, I'm embracing something more exotic.
