In Response To: Re: More S.O.S! -M1A1 problems (Lophan)

: Here's a prob I'm having... tell me if I'm nutz: I'm stuck on "Colony
: Ship For Sale, Cheap" (don't laugh!) and not because I don't know
: what to do :P

: I hit the switches in the rooms to adjust the height of the pillars and
: (gasp!) the buttons won't work. Now, if I can't adjust their heights, then
: I'm pretty much screwed.

: I'm on a G4-500 and the app works flawlessly otherwise (except for the OpenGL
: flashy-thing, but I've found that changing ANY item in the OpenGL prefs
: egts rid of it for that gaming session) with the most recent version of A1
: and M1A1. Anyone know a fix and/or experienced this problem?

Never have had the switch problem pop up, but I haven't played through to CSFSC yet... maybe I'll give it a shot tomorrow. You might try emailing Raul at biomeca@hotmail.com to see if anyone else has reported it or to see if he has any idea what might be causing it.

: Oh yeah, where did you get 24-bit textures for the original Marathon? If they
: exist, where can I find them.

I made the textures for the Marathon:Resurrection UT mod, along with a bunch for the Infinity net maps that are part of the beta release. At some point I will be releasing them as part of the Texture Enhancement Project, and Raul will be releasing 256*256 pixel, 24-bit versions for use in M1:A1. In the meantime, download M:R and gaze in wonder at the difference that better textures and quality lighting can make in the game (ignore the screenshots on the site, they are mostly out of date and show the original textures). Interestingly, the textures themselves look better in Aleph One at millions of colors (UT uses 256-color versions), but UT has the edge overall due to the lighting engine.

: Thx!
