Though Transmit is good (according to my Absolutely Right Scale Of Awesomeness plus some actual use of the product), 'tain't free: 25 simoleons be the price.
For a free ftp program, you might try CyberDuck (located at http://icu.unizh.ch/~dkocher/cyberduck/), though I think it's Mac OS X only. I can't comment on the quality of the app, though, because I haven't done any ftp since I downloaded it.
Else, try VersionTracker (or MacUpdate, I s'pose) under the category of Internet Utilities, or search for "ftp" on the site.
