Crabby Airlocks? What of it?

: Ah, but there is no other exit from the docking bay, unless the Player jumped
: out into space and found an external airlock somewhere on the hull of
: the Marathon . The door behind the Player's starting location serves as
: evidence to this. This theory is further supported by the fact that
: Durandal intentionally decompressed the docking bay, which seems entirely
: unnecessary, unless he wanted the Player to enter via this airlock and
: thus find Leela's terminal. The Player might miss this terminal if he came
: in through the docking bay door.

.
That's possible.

It’s interesting that the docking bay didn't have an accessible, or safely functional airlock, in the event foreseeing that a decompression occurred (standard docking procedures, emergencies, rampant AIs, whatever). Generally, an airlock is composed of two doors on either side of a chamber, that is pressurized or decompressed as access permits.

However, Portside Hangar 7A had no such airlock (at least from what we can tell from the map). It’s even more weird, because the it the hangar was mechanically designed to be decompressed (Durandal easily did it with whatever mechanism the hangar was equipped with).

The door behind the player's starting location contains a small chamber, that very well be an airlock. What of a second door? Was there one and Bungie just didn't bother to map it in? And if it is indeed an airlock, why is it separated from the hangar?

Is it possible that some idiot was envolved in drafting out airlocks in the Marathon's construction? Is it just an error, or something more?
