In Response To: Monofilaments (Mark Levin)

: Not only Shadowrun, monofilament wire has become a standard sci-fi weapon. I
: recall its appearance in novels by Gibson, Brunner, Niven, Simmons, and
: tons more.

Star Wars also has Monofilament wire. In the second half of the Young Jedi Knights series is it mentioned. It would be strung in horizontal rows, and was used primarily to subvert civillians and guerillas(talk about nasty scare tactics). It worked like a horizontal bread slicer(a industrial bread slicer, like what they have at bread production plants, they'll take off a finger easily), I'll leave the details up to your own greusome minds.
