| In Response To: Offtopic - what music do you like? (goran)
It's no secret that I'm older than most posters here (don't even think of asking). I do like Kraftwerk and Jarre, both already mentioned here, and I'm partial to the music of the late 60's and 70's - a time I remember well. Right now, I'm listening to Miles Davis' Kinda Blue, which I ripped and put on an mp3 disk with a bunch of other Jazz albums a few years back. I've become increasingly fond of Jazz and the really amazing things that Jazz artists did before any of us were born. Kinda Blue came out in the 50's, but Gershwin's music continues to amaze me, with it's phenominal variety and use of novel African American rhythms that were anything but mainstream back then - and he did it all in his 20's, as he died in his 30's as have some of history's greatest artists (eg. Mozart and Tchaikowsky). Speaking of which, I really, really like classical music from the Romantic period (the Russian composers, with Grieg thrown in for good measure), and I also like Bethoven and Bach from the Classical period - they're music is cool.
Don't get me wrong - I do like a lot of music from today, too, particularly some of the new age stuff, but I guess I'm too old to appreciate Rap.
