I must say, I find it quite interesting that nobody has interpreted Gheritt White had been floating six feet off the floor for three weeks as meaning, simply, that he is heavily sedated or stoned or on some kind of drugs -- so lightheaded that he feels like he is a presence floating along at exactly six feet.
The rest makes sense if you think that -- his hands and feet feel funny, the cel bars are pulsing like waves, he repeatedly slides into reverie ,and when he falls to his hands and knees it's as if it happens in slow motion, and into the sea...
...I'm not going to try and explain it -- I'd have to do a word-for-word translation of the terminal.
Just bear the Gherritt = heavily drugged thing in mind and go and read it again...
