In Response To: Re: The Timeline, Bob, and You (Finnigan)

: I'm suggesting every date after the Marathon's departure from Earth is @ 266
: years off.

Hmm, ok you have stumped me. I cannot figure out a way to prove or disprove that assertion.

Well, the answer is in the Bobs then. We need to ask one how many generations their BoB relatives go back. Assuming 40 years per generation, the answer will be either 1 or 7.

As a well read sci-fi fan, 300 years for a STL colony ship seems right to me...

Hmmmm....

HaloMarathon (+ LNP Corrections) Finnigan Hypothesis

2160 - The Jovian Moons Campaign began. Jovian secessionist attacks on United Nations Colonial Advisors on the moon Io led to three months of fighting between the Earth military and Jovian "Frieden" forces. Though this was not the first armed conflict in our Solar System, it was easily one of the bloodiest, and is generally considered to be the spark of increased friction and militarization that followed.

2162 - The Rain Forest Wars: Armed conflict ripped through South America.

2163 - In a conflict that stemmed from the Rain Forest Wars, the three primary Earth factions clashed again, this time on Mars.

2164 - UN-sponsored military forces begin a pattern of massive buildups, culminating in the first real interplanetary war.

2170 - A unified Earth government was formed in the wake of the conflicts of 2160. In the postwar period there were massive population surges and the overpopulation, coupled with the destruction and famine bred by the Rain Forest Wars, threatened to destabilize the economy.

2194 - War between the Independent Asteroid Government of Icarus and its neighbor, the Republic of Thermopylae on the asteroid of Onicis 492. Dead soldiers recycled as Battleroids. Battleroids get onto both asteroids and kill almost everyone.Same
2291 - A team of researchers, physicists, and mathematicians working in secret developed the Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine, a practical means of propelling spacecraft across vast interstellar distances.

2206 - Crash of Traxus IV. Complete shut down of Martian Planetary Net.

2208 - Damage to the Martian network caused by Traxus IV finally rooted out.

2214 - United Interplanetary League sets up rules for the appropriate use and storage of Battleroids.

Same

2310 - The Earth government unveiled the first in a line of colony ships-and volunteers were in great supply. Conditions on Earth had deteriorated in the face of overpopulation, so hitching a ride out to a colony became an attractive option.

2362 - The Odyssey launched on January 1, 2362. The lead ship in a fleet of colony vessels, the Odyssey-laden with troops and terraforming gear-spearheaded the colonization of a new world. This sparked the first wave of human expansion beyond the confines of the Solar System.

2390 - Colonization of the Inner Colonies was fully underway. There were 210 human-occupied worlds in various stages of terraforming, and the population burden across human-controlled space was largely stabilized.

2310 - CRIST (Cargo and Resources In-System Transports) Sol orbiter construction ceases.

2319 - Teleporters begin to be used in Sol system.

2320 - James B. Miller publishes his work 'Life and Death of Intelligence'.

2395 - Purchase of Deimos from Free holders by UESG.

Same

2490 - Expansion continued at a rapid pace, and by 2490 human space encompassed more than 800 worlds throughout the Orion Arm of the Milky Way (ranging from fairly well-tamed planetary strongholds to tiny hinterland settlements).

2494 - Rebel insurrection in Eridanus system.

2496 - Eridanus insurrection defeated by UNSC (4 destroyers lost).

2442 - Third Martian War begins.

2444 - Ares Raid - Imperialist forces clash with inserectionists.

2445 - Third Martian War ends after four years of fighting.

2465 - Martians place munitions on board the Marathon.

2466 - Failed Martian Coup. MIDA controls government for three short months.

2472 - Marathon completed sixty four years after coversion begins.

2472 - Pre-Launch dedication by the President of the Unified Earth Space Council (UESC), Marcus Tiberius Buendia. Bernhard Strauss enters in his log that ten Mjolnir Mark IV cyborgs were on board the Marathon.

2472 - Launch of Marathon.

Same

2510 - Pillar of Autumn built by Dr. Robert McLees (Reyes-McLees Shipyards over Mars).

2513 - Insurrection in Eridanus system, led by Colonel Robert Watts - supressed by UNSC (Operation TREBUCHET). Watts driven into the local asteroid belt.

2517- Project SPARTAN II begins on Reach, with 75 conscripts.

2525 - Spartans undergo radical body alterations - 31 die, 12 are permanently disabled, 32 successfully adapt. Project MJOLNIR commences; Spartans introduced to MJOLNIR armor at Damascus Materials Testing Facility, Planet Chi Ceti 4.

2531 - Covenant defeated by Admiral Cole at Harvest.

2535 - Jericho VII (Lambda Serpentis system) falls.

2552 - Reach falls.

?+6 - Durandal resumes speaking to Tycho.

2506 - Bernhard Strauss awakes after 300 years in stasis.

2507 - Marathon arrives at Tau Ceti.

2521 - Colony on Tau Ceti established.

2525 - Chockisens harass work teams on the fringe of the colony. Nar attempt to retake Epsilon Euobea from the Pfhor.

2528 - Marathon attacked by Pfhor.

2611 - Tycho accuses Durandal of being too sarcastic. Durandal stops speaking to Tycho.

2617 - Durandal resumes speaking to Tycho.

2772 - Bernhard Strauss awakes after 300 years in stasis.

2773 - Marathon arrives at Tau Ceti.

2787 - Colony on Tau Ceti established.

2791 - Chockisens harass work teams on the fringe of the colony. Nar attempt to retake Epsilon Euobea from the Pfhor.

2794 - Marathon attacked by Pfhor.
