Those are good points, I wouldn't capture sound unless that's what you wanted to capture. You could just take the sound effects from the games data files and add them in later.

If you look at Marathon the sprites don't have tons of images in the sequences. so lower frame rates can still look good anyway.

If you are playing from a saved film try slowing down the film's playback speed. Maybe try the slowest setting first to see if it helps.
