In Response To: Re: System Shock similarities (Aben Zin) System Shock 1 came out back in '94, so the two games are contemporaries. Going back and looking at either game today you realize just how limited games were graphically, but few recent games can beat either for gameplay and depth of story. The interface for SS1 is pretty bad. It isn't terrible once you master it, but it is very complex. Fortunately Irrational Games/looking Glass Studios did an amazing job of improving it for SS2. When you get right down to it, even the monsters in System Shock 2 are pretty low-poly and blocky, but they are well-animated and very smart. You don't really notice the graphics after a bit. |
