In Response To: System Shock similarities (Anaphiel) Perhaps the most obvious similarity: the player in SS2 is a cybernetically-augmented human soldier, with implants that allow easy hardware and skill upgrades and psionic abilities. More of a mental augmentation than a physical one, but it also justifies the ability to upgrade the player's strength and speed in-game. CAUTION: Spoiler Ahead... Also, at the end of SS2 Shodan offers the player a chance to put aside or transcend his humanity and join Shodan in reshaping reality as an immortal, perfect cybernetic entity. Not quite "Destiny", but still... |
