: I'd like to apologize in advance for bringing this up, but it's something
: that's been grating on my nerves for a while now: the level name is the
: gators of NY , not the gaiters of NY . "Gator" means an
: alligator, whereas "gaiter" (according to The American HeritageŽ
: Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition and courtesy of
: dictionary.com) means "a heavy cloth or leather covering for the leg
: extending from the instep to the ankle or knee". Just thought I would
: point that out.
Serves me right for trusting my spell checker over common sense. I knew it was gators, but I probably accidentally typed gaitors. Strange that a spell checker woulnd't even suggest gators as a possibility. Try it - even MS Word gives you 'gaiters'. Obviously most of us would use 'gaiters' more often than 'gators', wouldn't we? Oh well . . .
