	In Response To: Re: *Halo Spoiler* Re: not intelligent life... (PfhorSlayer) Perhaps it is possible that the flood is not easily destroyed. That would explain why it is merely contained. A couple of the Monitor's comments in the Library are relevant. "You can see how the body's been transformed by the genetic restructuring of the Flood infection. The small rangers carry spores that cause a host to mutate. The mutated host then produces spores that can pass the Flood to others. It is insidious and elegant. As long as any hosts remain, the Flood is virulent. " And later: "Your environment suit should serve you well when the Flood begins to alter the atmosphere. You are a good planner. " The essence of the flood are the spores. Now the "rangers" are carriers for these spores, but apparently not the only method of infection. The monitor's second comment is inconclusive, but perhaps the flood spores will spread throughout the atmosphere now that they are released. It is also possible that the spores could be able to survive vacuum. Who knows? Perhaps the destruction of Halo scattered billions of flood spores across the galaxy. The possible outcomes of such an event are grim at best.
