In Response To: How should I formulate argument for Marathon? (Ernie)

: Recently I've been trying to bring my friends around to thinking about
: Marathon the way I (and most of the Story Forum) thinks about it.

Meh. I don't think you're going to get very far since most people tend to stick with their initial opinions, especially if they lack abstract reasoning skills. And since your point of view on Marathon is based on opinion its going to be a lot tougher because you can't provide facts. its sorta like trying to get someone to really like a band they just can't stand. It's a matter of personal taste, my man.

: The argument I got from 'Shane' is that he believes that Marathon is pretty
: much like Doom as far as storyline goes. He believes that the 'mission
: briefing' at the start of each level in Doom (I really cant remember if
: there WAS a mission briefing..) can encompass as much story as Marathon's
: terminals.

Something tells me this guy doesn;t know much about Marathon...or Doom for that matter. Does 'Shane' ride the short bus?

: This was the begining of my resent towards my friend.

I don't like him very much either. He should see things the way we do, because we're obviously right. (whoa, church flasback)

: Help me formulate a good argument against this milarkie. Mark? Hamish? Even
: Mr. Blaine's opinions would be welcome. Being able to bash my buddy over
: the head with metaphysical analogys might confuse Shane enough to win me
: the argument.

Tell him he will pay the price for his lack of vision, and when the Revolution comes, he will NOT be spared.

: ;D I'm just kidding...I respect your Collage educated opinions as much as
: anyones.

My collage has a Phd. from Brown. ;)

: Eagerly awaiting responses while working,
