I don't think we ever found out what that was doing there. If you go back to our discussion on that, we concluded that there was no secret pattern buffer in M1 - just in M1A1. There are actually several new secrets in M1A1 that were'nt present in M1. For example, there's a secret room with a 3X recharger in Pfhor Your Eyes Only - Sidoh ported the level to A1 and aparently took some liberties. I just assumed that the secret pattern buffer was one of these - but it sure makes it a lot easier to get through the level!
