Heh, here is another tip
Don't give up and don't be so awfull harsh for yourself.
Look at what you made, pick up the good points/parts, use a lighttable/copymachine, transparancies, make different sketches of it.
But DON'T expect ever to have it just right in one go.

Unless you're Michelangelo himself (who burned all his sketches anyway)

Oh yeah, and practise some more :)
