In Response To: Here's my story, sad but true (Vid Boi) my powermac g4/400, tycho, which i bought november 2000 broke after just a few months. he started out just fine, but after the first few months he started crashing almost daily. i had to run norton once a week and reinstall the system software several times just to keep him running. then one day he refused to start at all, simply telling me that i didn't have any working systemfolder. i could still boot from the cd but the harddrive was beyond repair. so i sent tycho away to get him repaired. three days later they called me to tell me that the harddrive was broken and needed to get replaced. they went on telling me that the new harddrive didn't cost anything _but_ that they would charge 1250 sek ($125) to transfer all my data from the old drive to the new one. next time i'll just buy a new drive and do the work myself! on the other hand, since i got my hands on macos 10.1 tycho hasn't crashed once. -- hugo |
