Actually, no. Halo is more more like the Orbitals from Iain M Banks "Culture" series. It does not ring a star like Ringworld did; it's the size of a large moon (even a planet? the Moon is ~4,000 Km across, Halo is 10,000), which is a lot smaller than Ringworld was (that was 10,000 Km across, and a WHOLE LOT longer). It orbits between an apparently Earthlike moon called Basis, and the gas giant that Basis orbits, Threshold. We don't know the name of the star yet, AFAIK. But there is nothing in the center of Halo in any of the diagrams or data that we've been shown.
