We had a conversation about this a while ago. My personal opinion is that the engine type (i.e. instead of true 3d you have flat floors and ceilings) is known in the industry as a 2.5D engine -- because it's not quite 2d (since it has Z-depth) but its not quite 3d (since you cant have, say, slanted walls). So, everywhere a level overlaps itself, you have (2 * 2.5D) = 5D space. Simple [z] |
