... :yet when they kindly and inobtrusively asked for donations nobody even ASKED how they could donate. One problem I see is that there can't be community support without comunnity communication. If they really wanted a donation then they should have given instructions and the information necesary to do so up front. I hardly visit the place, but I've never seen the financial troubles mentioned anywhere at all before today. Couldn't this have been an item on the Story page? On the web I've seen different ways of getting money to pay for a site: Selling a CD of Site Contents (www.sacred-texts.com)
Banners suck and I heard they don't pay much. The CD is probably out of the question because of the work and legal issues. As for Donations, I would give cause I can. Nearly everyone on the internet takes things for granted, but really if someone wants something bad enough they will pay or look for a free site. I think a few people were just shocked by the cost no matter how small it is. For example I get everything I want from MacFixit for free, but there's more to be had at a price. Really it's just a marketing issue.
