And more stopping weapon than anything else - period. Get hit with one of these and you're powerless to fight back. And nothing strips your shields faster. Gotta love the Rubicon team for this one.

Dual shotguns have their place, but they have no stopping power. They're great when faced with a squadron of baddies at close range at once (eg. the M2 credits room), but against a single trooper when you're shields are low, they're just not fast enough. And they're useless at long range, and they run thorugh ammo very, very quickly.

The flame thrower? That's probably my least used weapon. The only time I'll use it is against a swarm of non-projectile fighters or drones, and occasionally against a swarm of troopers or projectile fighters. It's absolutely useless against cyborgs and hunters - two of the most powerful enemies you face, and it's useless against enforcers for the simple reason that it destroys their weapon, which you definitely want to acquire. Unless you know what enemies your'e going to to face in advance, the flame thrower is not the way to go.

Bottom line - assuming you have ample ammo for all weapons, what weapon do you use as your default when entering uncharted territories? For me it's the AR every time - best all-purpose weapon. Too bad it doesn't function in a vacuum environment. Now you'd think that the USEC would have solved that one by now - the trooper weapons work in vacuum, after all.
