Good haul I never really like Kingdom Come, but then again not an Alex Ross fan either. May I recomend some stuff most people will never see. I am a more alternitive comic man my self.
Steam Tech- Huge critical triumph, big flop in purchases. It came out at the time of other computer colored comics and was washed away in a stream of look alikes. The story it great and the art is wonderful. Action filled with a complex back story.
Wake- I think there is four books in the seris now, They have a great story with really great charactors. Like a james bond in space, with Lara Croft(the game version not the horrid spin offs) as the lead.
Stray Bullets- One of the best crime comics ever, it brought the genre back.
Jinx- Another great comic by Mike Bendis before he started to work for marvel.
Those are the only action comics I can come up withoff the top of my head. Humor wise:
Kyle Baker-Hilarious and he now does Plastic man. Watch out for his Captian America spin off for marvel, not a funny book.
Phil Foglio-A classic with a wealth of out of print work.
the Tick- make sure you get only the first 12 after that the writer left and it turned to crap, pure awful crap.
Sam and Max- older then marathon and it still has games coming out. Don't be fooled by the horrid cartoon this was an incredible comic that was one of the first graphic novels marvel was publishing of back comics. If you like this comic try the Clerks cartoon.
A few final mentions Harlan Ellison- the writer love to do comics and even had comic magazine based on old stories he had written.
The Spirit- a classic that change how comics were done
The Sandman books- a cult of geeks follows this one, but it is pretty good.
Preacher-another good run from DC Vertigo action, humor, and anything else you could want in a comic.
More to come,
