	In Response To: Re: Judge Dredd (the Battle Cat) : Specifically the Judge Dredd series so I can get a handle on the movie but : only if it is worth the time and effort. Barb Wire too to a lesser degree, : I didn't see that movie that I recall. I'm actually more curious if Judge : Dredd was true to the comics but didn't succeed in pulling it off, or if : it was just another failed Hollywood attempt to improve on a product. Judge Dredd wasn't even remotely close to the comics, which is a trememndous shame because they make for VERY tasty reading. It touched on the odd topic that would have worked VERY nicely had they been done properly: Rico, The Angel Gang, The Long Walk. each of these, rendered properly, could have carried the movie on its own, but they decided to grab-bag slices of some of the strongest stories and make a mockery of them. The strongest aspect of Dredd's character is that he's a fascist; a complete, out and out fascist. He also happens to be right. In fact, I can fairly reasonably recommend a large portion of the recent output of 2000ad and Judge Dredd Megazine. They've begun toying with more esoteric stories recently. It depends, I suppose, on your sense of humour. Both are very British (to be more specific, they tend to be notably Scottish in humour).
