This is all well as long as you don't keep the thread alive just to keep it alive. You can collect all your thoughts in one post instead of 10 replies to your original topic. If anyone wants to know your opinion in the future they can search the forum and not read for the x-th time "re: I still don't like Marathon 2 & 3" when they visit.

Unfortunately this is almost impossible as not everyone who has an opinion will reply...
But for what it's worth I though M2 had the best overall story, going a bit deeper than M1 but without the complexity of M:I.
