In Response To: Best Ever Map? (Steve Levinson)

Well, judging from the *yawn* interest that my original post garnered on what is the best ever single level map or single level in a solo scenario, I doubt that an actual vote would be very meaninngful. What I would like to do instead is to challenge everyone reading this forum to play all of the levels listed if they haven't already and to post their thoughts here.

The levels that have been suggested as being the best ever include:

My suggestions

Aye Mac Sikur from M Infinity
Conquest of K'Yandra Station by Rudi Bloks
Dances With Drones, also by Rudi Bloks
Like Shooting Jugs in a Barrel from Endymio by Chris Lund
Nocturne Magne from Fell by Ben Potter
Lava Me Tender from Origin of the Speces by Tony Smith
The Landing Base from Escape!! by Scott Noblitt
We Be Ground Pounders from Evil by Frigidman
Da'nara T'bat from Pfh' Joueur by SheBob
Five Finger Discount from Rubicon by Chris Lund
Exit Leads In from Rubicon by Chris Lund
Molten Dihydrogen Oxide from Rubicon by Chris Lund
Worm Food? from The Black Series by Eric A. Hill

Mark Levin's suggestions

Habe Quiddam from Marathon 1 (yeah, I know the engine is old, but it still had some great maps.)
Kill your Television from Marathon 2
Son Of Grendel from Marathon Infinity
Duality from Marathon Infinity (or did you want SP-only maps? You didn't say that explicitly...)
Silent As The Grave from Tempus Irae: The Lost Levels
Can You Say Mosh Pit from Marathon: RED (not so much for map design as for the gameplay modifications)
Jingle Bobs Live

Vid Boi's suggestion

What about Bob? from M2

Goran's suggestions

Lh'owon waterpark, M2
Ne Cede Malis, Mi.
snowdog, goran ;)
The king is dead, a cool map that taught me a lot of things
Torrfisk, operation vengeance
Alpha Omega Orion sector, seige of Nor'korh
Super soaker 700, escape 2!
Hackers, evil

Simon Dupuis' suggestions

Waterloo Waterpark- M2
Siege of Norkorh- M2 But Simon, which levels?
Escape 2 ( some of the most beautiful AND clean maps created )
--- But Simon, which levels?
Ne Cedes Malis- Mi
WaterWorld ( from the Infinity mapmaking contest )
MontSegur and Hostile ( also from the Infinity mapmaking contest )
Parathymeter- Evil
Pest control- Evil ( scared me to death )
DownWard spiral- Tempus Irae ( i drooled on that one )
Ain't my bitch- Tempus Irae

thermoplyae's suggestions

Couch fishing, m1 - A cool no linear maze layout that actually works... who woulda thought. Very quick an interesting, with a cool carnage laden outro.

Eat it vid boi, m2 - Whenever I think about stomping around a deserted alien homeworld, this is the level that comes to mind. That "oh shit im trapped on an alien planet hundreds of lght years from home with a mad computer in control" feeling really hits me here for some reason.

Poor yorrick, minf - The utter alien architecture to this level blows me away, and makes me wonder what went on inside the minds of doubleaught employees. The multiple solutions, paths and endings for this level make it most fun to explore.

...Evil so singularly personified, TI - So many good ideas in this level, architecture is consistently stunning, making it the most beautiful alien ship level I've ever played.

Some assembly required, Apotheosis - Hah! blowing my own trumpet here, but this is my honest opinion =)
--- Post it and we'll check it out ;^)

Tilo Probst's suggestion

"Fault Intolerant" (from Rogue Moon) by Tim Thomas

I have played all of these, now, most within the past couple of months. I challenge everyone reading this to do the same and get back to the forum with your thoughts - or your suggestions for yet another "best map ever".
