: Was your mother killed by desaturated colors or something?
: I mean, to each his own taste, but I find that subdued colors are much less
: hard on the eyes. The Rubicon team happens to have been able to go a long
: way with just a couple grays, greens and yellows. And I'll be damned if it
: doesn't work. Sometimes it's better to use just a few different colors
: than to use every single one available to you. No one ever said you had to
: use complementary, fully saturated colors when you make textures.
I agree I found some of the marathon textures goofy. I can't even stand to look at most of the ones from M2, I just play it in Mi. Rubricon was just more realistic in its approach. Utility alwas comes before fassion in reality, so if you are making a realistic senario with madding details like mice utility comes first. But if you are in a dream like in Mi or some alien ship you can blow utility to the wind. In general humans are lovers of bland drabs arciteture. An office is rarely very interseting to look at, but it serves a function.
It pretty much comes down to Art Deco vs. Bahaus.
Each can look great, but fans of one will ridicule the other. Kinda like macs and . . . no, that one doesn't really work, now does it?
