In Response To: Shuttle Columbia and crew lost (Hamish Sinclair)

: The space shuttle Columbia, with seven astronauts aboard, broke up as it
: descended over central Texas today before a planned landing at Kennedy
: Space Center in Florida.

: Sad news.

: Cheers
: Hamish

I was in the middle of cutting Styrofoam sm for my Marathon Terminal when I found out. I almost made a very bad cut as that vintage of the burning shuttle appeared on CNN. My dad let me know by turning on the television.

... I do realize how horrible the human cost of this was. However I can't help but feel sad for the space program as a result of this. We all here, given that we love scifi or Marathon, want space exploration.
I can't see Nasa or anyone else doing any major orbital missions, let alone forwarding exploration of our solarsystem in the next 7-10 years.
