As I live in a country with so many immigrants I've noticed that the first thing they learn to say are insults - not that they go around insulting people in spanish, they just learn them first. The most universal insult is hijo de puta or son of a bitch. You can apply this insult to any culture or time period without fear of getting out of context.
The insults you're suggesting - whose english equivalents are Go to Hell, Fuck you and Drop dead - are popular too, but not as universal as the one I mentioned first. Of course, you can always call somebody dumb or idiot or D-M.A, but those are mild insults that - true to be told - I don't think would hurt anybody.
Once I read an article about this and other matters, and it said some jewish people insult each other saying "Why don't you make like a radish and bury yourself?" An expression that once it's translated, lose all meaning.
In Salvador, chucha means bitch (female dog) while in the rest of the spanish speaking world, it means pussy (not the cat.) A long time ago, when my grandmother was visiting that country, a friend who was taking a shower shout my grandma at the top of the lungs, to please close the bathroom door because her chucha was driving she crazy.
