Depending on how heavily compressed the images are, that might not help much. It also would mean downloading what could be a very, very large file - unless you can access the archive via Apple File Sharing and open it remotely in Stuffit Delux.
What I would suggest is to put all of the files on an FTP server and use any one of a number of thumbnail generating programs to make a a downloadable thumbnail file to facilitate picking and choosing among the massive archive.
