In Response To: MARATHON RIDDLE (Alfred Mordeir)

: Despair Rage Envy
: My life's work in vein
: History repeated three times
: Genius once alive, then deceased, now artificial
: Am I the only one who cares to know why?
: Who am I?

OK, since your lack of reply to my Tycho answer suggests that's wrong, is it Durandal?

Despair Rage Envy--obvious; he was the first to go rampant.
My life's work in vain--he fails to escape the closure of the universe?
History repeated three times--a few possibilities: "I've twice been conquered, three times more," etc; the three Marathon games, where the sequence of events is relatively similar; the weird time-jumping in M:I
Genius once alive, then deceased, now artificial--the best I can come up with here is the suggestion that he was Traxus IV, the AI whose famous rampancy and crash
Am I the only one who cares to know why?--Ummm...again, I'm afraid this one stumps me. Oh well, I tried.
