In Response To: A Comment on Thermopylae (gotan)

: As I was reading (now i can't find it anymore) soemone made a comment about
: (your character) being from (i believe it was) the astroid Thermapylae.
: Then in yellow text a comment was made "I think we are older than
: that." What about the Thermopylae in Greece? That's the first thing I
: thought of when it mentioned Thermopylae.

A likely reference for Thermopylae is the Gap series by Stephen Donaldson.

Angus Thermopylae, the primary protagonist, is a 'welded' human, that is, a cybernetically enhanced cyborg, controlled by a series of onboard computers. There are plenty of ideas in the Gap books that appear to have counterparts in the Marathon Trilogy, notably 'kazes' being exploding humans, infiltrated into normal society and blowing up in key locations. I'd list more, but I'm in the middle of reading thorugh the books right now.
