Imagine: You are bernard strauss. You are actively avioding the cyborg, because of rumors circulating that the cyborg is killing crewmates and phor alike, and laughing about it. You have the power to destroy the cyborg, but you don't. You don't because you are in communicado w/ durandal and you know durandal will rip your heart out if you come anywhere near killing his prized little cyborg. And besides; you simply hope the phor will do it.
