In Response To: Re: Timeline (Son of Grd'nl) : The Marathon's flight to Tau Ceti was three hundred years long. That's three
But if they developed FTL during the Marathon's 300 year journey, why did they never send a ship to catch up with the Marathon and see how she was doing? Strikes me that it would've been a pretty simple thing to do. I always got the impression that humans got their FTL from Durandal when he gave them "warp capable fusion missiles" between M1 and M2. And while this is just IMHO, I feel Halo would best fit into the timeline after M2/MI, when humanity was expanding out into the galaxy, sacking the Pfhor homeworld, etc. This would give them plenty of time to have lots of colonies for the Covenant to squash, including one with a population of 100 million, as the colony destroyed at the game's beginning supposedly had. This is just my theory, of course, but it's what seems to make sense to me. And I could've sworn I heard somewhere way back in the early days that Halo was set in the 28th century. Brian |
