I'm trying to join or gather an AO game, and I can't seem to get this to work. I also have the same problems in Myth.
Here's what I do:
In system preferences -> sharing -> firewall, I open the required ports for Myth (3453) and Marathon AO (15367 4226).
In airport admin utility (I'm running 3.84) I open up the same ports in the tab "port mapping." I use the same ports for public and private. It also gives me a setting for "private address," which is a local IP (10.0.1.x), where x is given to me as a default of 201. I use 201, and I also create a setting for 10.0.1.2, which seems to be my IP according to airport.
Any help appreciated.
