Intelligent design?
Posted By: Aben ZinDate: 10/24/02 2:55 p.m.

I've just recently been suplimenting my Mapmaking and Myth playing with bouts of Marathon Evil. This started me thinking.
Some of the Evil levels have those annoying platform things that you have to jump from at exactly the right time to get to the next platform.
This is the only way to reach the Terminal you have to get through.
Now my question is this: if *you* were designing an ancient alien complex, for real as it were, would you put a vital communications terminal in a place where it could only be reached by a system of frustrating jumps? It would *really* piss off your communications officer (or whatever).

This leads me to another question. Marathon is a primarily an action game. By introducing puzzle/platform elements, aren't we/they/whoever turning Marathon into to something it really shouldn't be?

Sorry 'bout the rant.
