Aleph One, Marathon EVIL, and Windows (help!)
Posted By: Cotton MouseDate: 10/15/02 3:55 p.m.

For the most part, I've done a pretty good job of getting Marathon
EVIL to run under windows- I have two problems: One with Aleph One in
general, and another with the EVIL files.

Firstly, whenever I run in full screen, whether it be in software or
openGL, parts of the hud flicker quickly, and when I use the map and
then go back, the map is still on the un-updated parts of the screen,
flashing.

More major a problem, though, is my inability to get the whole
Marathon EVIL map file. Using Basilisk II and HFS explorer, I copied
my marathon EVIL files to my PC hard drive, but I can only transfer
the *data fork* or the *resource fork* of the map. What does this
mean? I can either get all the pictures and sounds, or be able to
play the maps. Not both. I can play it right now, but I have no
chapter screens, and no terminal images (which takes away from the
experiance).

I've noticed that the infinity demo levels bundled with Aleph for
windows seem to have Terminal Images and all that just fine, as well
as actually have levels- But how can I do this for the EVIL map?

Is there some application that takes the data and resource forks and
combines them? How was the infinity level made with both the data and
resource forks? If you can answer any of my questions, PLEASE take
the time to respond. I feel like I've tried everything.
