Reverse-engineering Pathways into Darkness

Currently, most of the data formats are reasonably well-understood: the map format, the initial-data format, the savegame format, even the character-speech script format. However, the shapes format has resisted my valiant efforts at reverse-engineering, and it is rumored that the PID shapes are encrypted, like those character-speech scripts.

Has anyone tried to take a stab at the shapes format?

I hope that it is not too difficult to read.
