meat machines?

Browsing through an old Keyboard Magazine issue (Feb/92) I found this in an article entitled: SIMON LEONARD/Booting up the meat machine with FORTRAN FIVE (an electronic music band)
" Simon Leonard is interested in "cymbiosis -the melding of microcircuitry and "meat machine" (Artificial Intelligence jargon for the human mind).
Leonard declares himself "a lifelong science fiction afficionado".
Now i don't remember if the term "meat machine" was ever used in Marathon, but i find this quite interesting.
