The one difference... "Ain't got time pfhor this"

Well, after so many years, this is fairly exciting. So pfhor WAS spelled phfor once. :) Or did we know that?

I certainly wouldn't have expected the level outlines to be as close as they are to the final form. Sure, a few names changed, but otherwise it's the same... EXCEPT there are two conspicuous differences. First is the complete abscence of "Ain't got time pfhor this". Second, in the outline is a description of a level called "What is best in life...", which would have come after "Welcome..." and before "Try again".

Though the outline specifically called "Pfhoraphobia" the "last alien level", "Ain't got time pfhor this" ended up as the final Pfhor level in M1. Some may recall "AGTPT" better as that mysterious egg level that seemed to be there for no reason. Some thought the level had importance in an early version of the story. However, the fact that the outline didn't include this level discredits this hypothesis.

In light of the new information, given that level's conspicuous poor cohesion with the M1 storyline, "AGTPT" can instead be explained away as a last minute edition. This is either because Bungie needed some filler after deciding that "What is best in life..." wasn't ready for primetime and didn't justify its own level (I'd have prefered "Colony Ship" to be axed, frankly) and Bungie felt maintaining the 27 level count was important. Alternatively, perhaps they had some thread that they didn't have time to weave into the existing plot... happily, they decided to throw in the level because it was so eerily cool.

In case it matters, the level "AGTPT" replaced, "What is best in life...", was some vacuum level. Apparently whatever there was of that level was amalgamated with "WTT Revolution". If you look at the intended terminal text, those themes are present in the "WTTR" terminals, right down to the exact IP numbers: " is unreachable or inactive (#2271)").

Does anyone know how close to the final release those level by level outlines were written up?
