This is strictly a bridge level to orient you to the Pfhor Plank. Durandal has transported you back to the Rozinante to tell you what to do next. He tells you that:
The last tidbit explains one of the big contradictions in Rubicon – why we don’t notice the low gravity of Pfhor Prime during game play. We’ve known since the first Marathon game that the Pfhor are adapted to low gravity environments. The only problem with the use of a weighted suit is that there is a big difference between weight and mass. Weight is dependent on the force of gravity, whereas mass is not. Why is this important?, you may ask. Well consider life on the moon. If jump forward, the reduced gravitational force will allow you take a flying leap. If you fly into a large boulder, however, the full intertia of your body mass will smash you into that rock with just as much force as if you were on earth. Now, let’s say we want to weigh you down so that you don’t go flying. On the moon we could easily add 300 kg to your space suit, which would give you the same weight as you have on earth (if you weigh some 60kg), but in the scenario where you smash into a rock, you would then smash into it with 6 times as much force. Ouch! Maybe Durandal should rethink this? Perhaps an artificial gravity suit would be best? In any case, it’s off to the Sea of Slime.
