Well, they're very clearly energy drinks from one of the conglomerates. I would not be surprised if for whatever reason they decide to retcon the energy shield smoothies as part of a similar product line, despite not showing up until Marathon 2, which, at that point, may have been designed by Durandal and/or the Sph't
