In Response To: Aleph One is mysterious (ehyto) : Programming is mysterious. : How can 5D space work with Nu Marathon's triangle count? : This is the great mystery that must be solved! Likely by cheating with Portal style portals like Duke Nukem 3D or Unreal 1 do instead of actual 5D space. The source engine does that too in games like Portal 2 for super vast spaces but it's so subtle you never know it has them at all until you read somewhere or someone tells you. Even then it's hard to think of where unless someone spells it out. I only vaguely recall one place being the mangled test chambers in Wheatley's testing track, and a non Portal 2 example being a 5D space hallway in the retail remake of The Stanley Parable. It's hard to think of another example than those other than Antichamber and I don't know if the latter actually is true 5D space or not.
